The complex also includes private areas such as the main house which is an 1850 Greek Revival structure originally built by Mathew Marshall, a prominent blacksmith in Columbia county. There is a restored barn and chicken house which was converted to an office. There are forest, fields and meadows surrounding the complex where wildlife abound. Visitors can view deer, wild turkey and rabbits roaming the grounds right from their room windows. Spring is a magical time at Vintage East. There are 100-year-old lilacs blooming in light blue, white and purple and the lilac fragrance is everywhere. Fall is equally beautiful with foliage showing bright red and yellow. And bird watching doesn't get any better than at Vintage East.

The views are beautiful from Vintage East, especially in winter. You can see the Green Mountains of Vermont to the North, the Taconic Mountains and the Berkshire Mountains of Massachussetts to the East and Frederic Church's castle called Olana to the West. You can even see the many church steeples of the City of Hudson rising through the forest canopy below.
